Honeymoon Tour, Zambia
Explore the world | Romance and Faith | Zambia
Bush campfires, sleeping under the stars, up-close wildlife encounters and chasing waterfalls on a sunset cruise down the Zambezi make for an unforgettable honeymoon. A honeymoon spent in Zambia combines adventurous days – game drives, walking safaris, and canoe trips – with truly romantic evenings under the star-filled sky.
Zambia also offers remote safaris, for a true wilderness experience far away from the crowds. Our suggested Zambia honeymoon itinerary showcases the best the country has to offer visitors, with game-rich safari destinations, riverside relaxation and romantic waterfalls. Take on Zambia’s most diverse national parks with walking safaris and game drives by dawn, dusk and dark, followed by time at the thundering natural phenomenon of Victoria Falls.
You start at South Luangwa National Park, traversing between three luxury safari lodges operated by Kafunta Safaris, providing you and your partner with the opportunity to get off the beaten track, off the grid and back to nature in remote areas of the park.
Next, you head to Lower Zambezi National Park, as noted for its game drives and walking safaris as it is for river activities such as canoe safaris, fishing and river cruises. Try your hand at catching a prized tigerfish or drift along the river’s currents by boat, watching wildlife come to drink from the water’s edge. The climax of your romantic Zambia honeymoon is Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World and an incredible sight to behold.
Perfect for a pair of intrepid explorers or wildlife enthusiasts, a Zambia honeymoon encompasses the adventure of tracking a pride of lions, the romance of sunset river cruises and quiet moments cuddling by the campfire, looking out for shooting stars.
Lake Tanganyika has a remarkably uniform temperature. The lower regions are only a mere three degrees colder than the surface. The reason for this strange phenomenon is yet to be discovered.
Lake Tanganyika boasts over 350 species of fish of which most are endemic. Lake Tanganyika is extremely old, and the combination of its age and ecological isolation has led to the evolution of unique fish populations. Regarded as one of the most biologically unique habitats on earth, Lake Tanganyika is also an evolutionary showcase due to its great age and stability. 98% of the lake’s cychlids (which comprise two-thirds of all the lake’s fish) are unique to Lake Tanganyika. Also endemic are all seven of its crabs, five out of the thirteen bivalve molluscs, more than half of its gastropod molluscs and eleven of its thirty three copepod crustaceans.
Sport fishing is very popular here and catches include the Goliath Tigerfish and Nile Perch. Crocodiles inhabit most of the shoreline, except around Mpulungu. Swimming in the Mpulungu area of the lake is an absolute treat. Warm, clear, salt free water that changes from silky stillness, to high waves for a great body surf – usually with no apparent reason for the change – lend themselves to a romantic experience for those who do things together.
